A gym is one of the most sensation-sensitive spaces: people keep exercising and generating heat, and the radiant heat from large glazing makes the window-side equipment area feel noticeably different from the centre of the room.
In the video, the window side of this hotel gym has been fitted with curtains, with the film hanging on the inner side of the glass; the workout area is in normal daytime use and the outdoors is visible through the curtain.

According to the project’s on-site comfort records: with the air conditioning set to a higher temperature, people on site still felt comfortable. Note that this is an on-site comfort record; energy performance is affected by many factors including the building envelope and equipment operating strategy, and this article does not attribute it to a single cause.
The gym setting is worth noting: when exercising near glass, radiant heat acts directly on the skin and is often felt earlier than the ambient temperature. Reflecting the radiant heat off the glass surface improves exactly that “exercising right against the window” experience.
For large-glazing spaces such as hotel gyms and pools with similar needs, the team can provide an on-site survey, assessing the fit according to orientation and usage hours.
